The Marja-Liisa Pitkäranta Foundation provides grants for youth work for art education and helps young artists and art students.

Just one look at Marjaliisa Pitkäranta’s illustrations shows you why her works are so well loved in Finland. Her illustrations are characterized by the richness of their details and especially by their natural themes. Her works often feature loveable animal characters and are always upbeat and exuberant. A closer look reveals a devotion to the little joys of life and happiness.

Marjaliisa Pitkäranta was a highly prolific visual artist who is best known for her many postcards. Her Christmas and Easter cards have touched the lives of every Finn. Marjaliisa’s seasonal cards created the landscape of Finnish Christmas and its merry spirit. She also illustrated dozens of educational and fairytale books. Their warm-hearted illustrations of nature and animals are familiar to most Finns.

The artist Marjaliisa Pitkäranta (1941-2003) willed her life’s work to a foundation. The assets of her foundation comprise the copyrights to over 2,000 Marjaliisa Pitkäranta postcards and most of their originals.

Kuvaliiteri Oy sells rights to use Marjaliisa Pitkäranta’s works.
